Meet Maria Overweight my whole adult life; I was always
struggled with dieting. I went from one program to another but nothing seemed to
work for me. Then in 1991, while going through a very stressful divorce, I was
diagnosed with the very early stages of cervical cancer, which changed my life
completely. I chose not to have a radical hysterectomy and
elected to have surgery to cut out the areas that had been affected by the
cancer since it was at such an early stage. After the surgery I asked my doctor
what I could to completely get rid of the cancer. Her advice was loose weight
and start eating healthier. There was no guidance on what to eat so I started
to do research on cancer to see what I needed to do to ensure that it never came
back again. I became very conscious of everything I was putting in my body.
In my quest for answers and knowledge I
probably Googled everything there was concerning cancer, not just the type I had
but all cancer. I learned about supplements; which ones would help and which
ones to avoid as well as what foods would harmonize with my body and keep cancer
away and which ones would put my body in a state that cancer would grow in. One
year later I had shed 77 pounds and was cancer free. Compelled to make sure the
cancer would not return I began my journey to healing my soul and spirit. The next step for me was to see a chiropractor
who could help with a pain in my lower back. The chiropractor I began seeing
saw my potential to help others through the knowledge I attained on my own and
gave me a catalog for a school, The Institute for Integrative Nutrition, which
was the first stop on my transitional tour. That day I spoke to one of the
school administrators and enrolled the very next day. I realized that part of
my purpose was helping people create a better life for them selves by teaching
them about nutritional wellness. There is no one better to have as a patient
advocate than a well informed YOU! It’s my goal to educate my clients so that
they are well informed if they ever need to consult with a doctor regarding
their heath care or that of a loved one. The next phase of my transition seemed to come
while I was attending school (IIN). I started to experience different
metaphysical happenings that I had not had since I was a child. It started with
seeing auras of the guest speakers and having things come to me intuitively. I
mentioned this to the chiropractor who directed me to the school. He said the
next step was for me to have Reiki and sent me to Kathie Lipinski, a holistic
nurse and Reiki Master. Little did I know I would find my passion in that
session as well as a new mentor and friend. I signed up for Reiki I & II with
Kathie and from there went on to become a Reiki Master Teacher. My passion for
Reiki has grown as well as my understanding of the energetics of the body. As
of June 2009 I have completed the Karuna Reiki Master / Teacher certification. Just as food is nutritional and beneficial to sustain the body, meditation, reiki, crystals and essential oils are important to balance the emotions, mind, body and spirit. Through meditation we learn to quiet the mind and go inside to find our answers. The body can recover from stress or illness using meditation to help quiet the body. Crystal energy can help balance the emotional energy system of the body. Essential oils have been used for centuries and are grown off the energy of the plants and trees of the earth and are used in Reiki, massage, aromatherapy, emotional health and much more. Today, I integrate my knowledge of nutrition,
Reiki, crystals, meditation and essential oils to help others. It is my belief
that the right tools are important in keeping the body healthy as a whole. It
is my goal to help those who are in need of reconnecting the mind, body and
spirit. Click here to download the Health History form (word doc)
